Webinar: People with Intellectual Disabilities and Sexual Behavior Problems: A Criminal Justice and Community Support Approach
This one hour webinar will discuss the issues which arise when individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities exhibit inappropriate sexual behaviors. These behaviors can adversely affect the community and the quality of life for the individual. Law enforcement and social service agencies struggle with understanding and balancing sexual expression, inappropriate sexual behavior and the safety of the community.
Our speaker, Dr. Robin Wilson, will examine the vulnerability of individuals with I/DD to inappropriate sexual behavior which can lead to their becoming suspects or victims. He will also discuss the many unique factors that come into play when protecting and supporting individuals in the community. Dr. Wilson has a long and distinguished career working with this population, and will provide an insightful overview addressing the specific needs of people with I/DD while supporting them safely in the community.
This webinar series is brought to you by The Arc of NJ Criminal Justice Advocacy Program in partnership with New Jersey Association for Treatment and Sexual Abusers; made possible by the NJ State Bar Foundation with funding from the IOLTA fund of the Bar New Jersey.
