This workshop will provide an overview of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) population, will review how and why individuals with I/DD are at an increased risk for abuse and neglect in their homes and communities, will discuss barriers families face when discussing sexuality with youth with I/DD and other developmental disabilities, and why it is so important to have these discussions with these youths. Participants will gain insight into the sibling experience as well as the variety of ways siblings can be allies in identifying
possible abuse/neglect and mitigating it within the family.
