Special Education Rights and Advocacy Strategies: What to do When You Hit a Roadblock
Presented by Hinkle, Fingles & Prior Attorneys at Law
and hosted by The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute, this webinar will discuss what families need to know about their rights in the special education system.
All students with disabilities are entitled to a free, appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. But who decides what is “appropriate” for a particular child, and what constitutes the “least restrictive environment"? Whether the placement is yet undecided, the general education classroom with all necessary supports, a local self-contained classroom, or a private school, parents often find themselves in the role of advocate. In this webinar parents will learn practical advocacy tips and strategies to avoid common pitfalls. Parents will also learn what they can do in order to resolve disagreements with their school district.
