This episode features Monica Maniscalco, Chief Operating Officer for Legacy Empowerment Services.
Legacy was founded in 2019 by Ms. Mayra Martinez, a former Support Coordinator and Job Coach.
Ms. Martinez enjoyed providing individualized support to her clients and developed an understanding of their needs and the socioeconomic issues that they were facing. She wanted to address and help resolve difficulties involving housing instability, language and cultural barriers, lack of financial resources, and lack of natural supports; all of which appeared to be a common trend.
During her maternity leave in October 2019, Ms. Martinez decided it was time to start her own agency. She would create an agency dedicated to advocacy and individualized service delivery to adults with disabilities.
Ms. Martinez partnered with her spouse, Anthony Perez, to create Legacy. Legacy now provides a wide array of services all throughout NJ and is dedicated to developing innovative ways to provide supports and create new opportunities for its participants.
