Supporting Siblings as They Grow: Meeting the Needs of Brothers & Sisters of Children with Disabilities
The role of siblings in the life of their brother or sister with an intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) is as complex as it is meaningful. As brothers and sisters grow up, their relationship and role with their siblings do as well. At all ages, siblings need information, peer support, and an opportunity to discuss the future. This presentation will discuss the sibling experience, common feelings, and how to best support and address the unique needs of siblings.
Join us and The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute as we discuss the many joys and challenges of growing up as a sibling of someone with a developmental disability.
