  social setting.\n\nEmphasis is placed on maintaining and increasing socia
 l and academic skills\, specifically in the following areas:\nLife skills
 \nSocial skills\nLanguage arts literacy\nMathematics\nSocial studies\nHeal
 th\nIndependent living skills\n\nStudents are assigned to different sectio
 ns for academic purposes and join together at various times for group inte
 raction and guest presenters. Electives are woven into the curriculum.\n\n
 Students work in a classroom setting with instructors and assistants who h
 ave experience in the special education field. A certified Special Educati
 on teacher leads the program.\n\nStudents include those who have had an IE
 P while in public school\, and the age ranges are from 17-60+. The student
 s may live at home\, in their apartment\, or a group home.\n\nIf the stude
 nt performs best with a one-on-one assistant\, accommodations will need to
  be made by the parent/guardian for the student to participate in the prog
 ram if it is deemed necessary.
