rsey Criminal Justice Advocacy Program\n\nYouth enter the criminal justice
system and are often never identified as having a developmental disabilit
 y. That disability\, however\, can affect every aspect of their interacti

developmental disability is\, what it looks like\, how it impacts on comm
unication and compliance. This overview will describe disabilities\, obst
acles to understanding and \ncommunication and how professionals can more
effectively work with this population. Autism Spectrum Disorders\, Fetal
Alcohol Syndrome \nDisorder\, intellectual disabilities and other neurolo
gical disorders that affect comprehension and communication will be discus
sed. Tips for working with this population will be provided\, as will use
