Facing the Future 26
The Facing the Future conference committee invites workshop proposals on the following topics for the March 23, 2018 conference. This annual one-day conference features 27 workshops designed to educate professionals in career planning, customized employment, and transition from school to work. Workshops are 75 minutes in length.
Workshops should be interactive and address the following topics:
Job Development
Job Coaching
Person-Centered Employment
Support strategies (e.g., instructional strategies, positive behavioral supports, natural supports)
Transition from School to Work (e.g., best practices, model transition programs, partnerships, etc.)
Mental health and dual diagnosis (mental health and intellectual or developmental disability)
State services (DDD and DVRS)
Policy Issues (e.g., effective advocacy, current policy issues, etc.)
Support for specific populations (e.g., autism, significant disabilities)
Transportation
Employer perspectives
Audience: Supported Employment professionals, including supervisors, administrators, employment specialists, job developers, representatives from state agencies, teachers, and transition coordinators are the primary audience for the conference. People with disabilities and family members may also attend.
